There are many sag ponds along the fault zone, and some of them have been enhanced to do duty as municipal water reservoirs, as Lake Palmdale here. Water is brought from the Sierras via the California Aqueduct at lower left. Following the fault trace through the valley to the northwest, more sag ponds are found, including Lake Elizabeth and Lake Hughes. At the far western end of Antelope Valley, the Garlock Fault intersects the San Andreas near Gorman.
